I recently had to take about 10 inches off my dreads b/c my youngest son was having some GI issues and puked in them enough times that I was unable to remove the smell from the ends of the dreads. Here is a recent photo of the dreads (about 2 months ago, right after removing the 10 inches):

I will post a new photo tomorrow of them a day after dread maintenance, so that those of you who were curious what that is/looks like can see .

Hey mamas! It has been a while since I updated!

I am currently pregnant with our third son and things are going great!

Here are some new photos of my dreadlocks! Still loving the new ones.

Just to fill everyone in, Adorn is still lying about the quality of their work, they admitted to DreadHeadHQ (after hearing about their displeasure with the situation) that they do NOT do manicured dreads and didn't understand that it is what I wanted, but they still refuse me a refund. They agreed to taking classes to learning how to do it as well. So please keep their lying to costumers when making appointments in mind when picking a salon. Another mom recently told me that last year she complained and was told tough when her hair cut was not ok (same stylist and owner!) She even went in the next day to talk to them. She was smart enough to have used a check and just canceled it after trying for 2 weeks to talk to Adorn. And BTW she had a horrible time even getting someone to call her back.

10.5 Week old dreads ^

Dread-age Update :O)

They are coming along GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how they look and how tight they are getting already! What a difference!!

HUGE PROPS to Eclipse Salon in DownTown Asheville! Jen, the owner, did the new dreads for me and has done all my upkeep!

I LOVE MY NEW DREADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is amazing to wake up and see the difference in the dreads. This new set is exactly what I wanted and expected. Jen did a lot of work to fix the damage and missing hair from the dreadlocks that Adorn Salon and Boutique put in (see below for more details). I definitely suggest that you all go to Jen or the other girls at Eclipse Salon for ANY hair cutting needs!!! They do more than dreads!!

SO MY BOTTOM LINE IS, ADRON HAIR SALON SUCKS ASS! AND ECLIPSE ROCKS!

Ok, so I washed And went to the beach YEY! They told me not to wash more than 1-2 times a week (preferably once) and KEEP MY HANDS OFF. Only wax once a week or less. . . . I was playing with them too much b/c of how I had to work the old dreads. Here are some pics from 2.5 weeks old and from today. I have them up right now, I will try to get some more pics with them down soon! Sorry for the quality.

Adorn Sucks, Update**

Although they gave reason after reason as to why my hair isn't dreadable(see this thread for more about that!), and refuse to refund my money, Adorn has agreed to LEARN TO DREAD HAIR by taking classes!

Ironic huh? They wont refund my money, but they are willing to take classes to learn how to do manicured dreads?

WHAT BULL! Obviously this wasn't about my hair not being dreadable, but more about their inabbility to make "nice looking" dreads.

Got the new Dreads. SO STOKED!

I got my new dreads and I LOVE them!

They are manicured, cute, and exactly what I asked for (BOTH times.) MUCH better than the first set, don't you think?

So much for being tender-headed and not having a supportive hubbie right ? LOL!!! Carl loves them too! (see this thread for more about that!)

They need a little work beca use of the breakage that Brandy caused with the misshapen dreads, but as it grows in, I can work them into the new dreads. I lost quite a few chunks of hair from broken dreads, but they helped me work around that.

The entire day was a wonderful expierence! The stylist WANTED to be doing my hair and was really into it! She and the other girls all made great conversation and seem to really have fun working together! I am looking forward to going back for some dread care!

I am SUPER stoked about them and LOVE the new do!

It goes to show you that the Adorn Dreads were NOT up to par and the work was NOT what I asked for. I will update with pictures as the dreads develop so that you can compare the work from the different salons.

Ok, for more compairison pictures, this is the day after my 1st waxing, day 4 w/the new dreads. Again, the breakage is where the old dreads from Adorn were tearing off b/c of their irregular bases.

ADORN HAIR SALON IN ASHEVILLE NC SUCKS

Ok, there are pictures at the bottom of the post, read the whole thing to see why I am pissed off at their lack of service.

I am sooooooo tired of being jerked around by the employees and owner of the Adorn Hair Salon (Adorn Salon and Boutique) in Asheville NC. This is a rant so excuse the typos . . . . I am just seriously PISSED OFF> The hair styles and costumer service at Adorn leave a LOT to be desired.

I called and set up an appointment to have my hair dreadlocked. When I called, I asked a lot of different questions regarding techniques and they really seemed to know about dreads (which is good since I didn't) so I went ahead and set up an appointment to have them done, and got daycare for that time. They told me I would only need 3 hours to get them done. (I assumed a few people might be doing them to get them done that fast?)

I wanted manicured looking dreads. Dreads are not anything more than a hair style to me, and I really just like the way well-kept dreads look.

When I arrived (after getting day care for my children and for the children that I keep) I was told that there was no way they were going to finish that day, and that we could cancel or just go ahead and do what we could and have me come back to get the rest done. (at an hourly rate mind you) I decided that I wanted Brandy to get as far as she could and then go from there.

I left the salon fairly disappointed with the way the hair was looking, and REALLY upset that I had to return for more and that there were no openings for a WEEK. The hair was not being sectioned into squares like I wanted, and was not really dreaded. More like twisted and gunked with wax. It seemed like Brandy didn't really have time to put into my hair, and that she was rushing. She kept giving me all kinds of reasons why my hair looked the way it did.

I understood that dreads are a process and that I would have to continue to care for them over the time that I have them. I also understand that they take a LOT of time to settle in. I have NO problem with that. But when Brandy was "done" my hair was AWFUL and looked nothing like the pictures that the manufacturer of the products she used say they should. I was mortified when I left the salon, but I trusted that it would get better.

I was told that I needed to let them go for 8 weeks, and let them "do their own thing" and join together and such. That I needed to continue to backcomb, palm roll, rub, and use wax. I did as I was told and gave the hair some time to start to "calm down". Brandy told me to come back in 2 months to let her see them. It never got better, actually it got worse.

After the first week, I called a few times so that I could come in to have the dreads looked at. They were falling out even though I was back combing .. . . .

(I don't find it professional to make customers leave messages, and therefore didn't) and I continued calling over the next weeks to try to get an appointment for maintenance on the dreads.

My neighbor and I were working on them at least 3 times a week and they were getting progressively worse. . . I used heat activated wax, and covered my hair with a shower cap and heated it with a blowdryer every 3-4 days. I used locking accelerator, dread "peppa" and the products that Adorn sold to me.

Finally after 8 weeks of frustration and of not getting intouch with anyone there, I went to 2 other salons to get quotes on dread care. Both salons told me that the dreads were sectioned out so poorly that I was going to have to remove them, that I was loosing chunks of hair because the dreads were so narrow and not squared. .. . They also said that they NEVER have seen dread work this BAD. Novices who start their own dreads at home alone have better sections and nicer dreads than I did.

I did not want "natural dreads" I wanted uniform, manicured dreads, which I made clear from the beginning. My dreads were NOT put in properly, or how I wanted them done, Brandy DID NOT section the hair out uniformly, or at all. Some of the dreads are so small that they began falling out (like the chunk of hair) and there was a TON of loose hair when she was done the first day. Not to mention she did NO care on the ends. She told me that I should just fold over the ends and use heat activated wax to seal it in. (Which is NOT how you treat dread ends I have come to find out.)

So I contacted Adorn and asked to please get my money back so that I could afford to have them removed and REDONE. I still want dreads, just ones that actually look manicured like I asked for.

They refused to call me back for weeks, and are now refusing to give me the money back. They said I took too long to come back, but admitted that now would be the first time I should be coming back amd that they told me to wait 2 months for more dread work. AND they were incredibly rude about. They "stand behind the work" and the hair dresser does good work. I was told that I could come in and let her see the dreads but that it wouldn't make a difference, that I was not being refunded my money.

I DO NOT SUGGEST ANYONE EVER going there for any reason. They are NOT trustworthy or truthful. Please let everyone know this. I am filing with the BBB and so is the manufacture of the dread products that were used to create this MESS.

I have had to spend ANOTHER $350 to have the hair fixed. And I have spots where there is missing hair (bald spots) b/c of the poor sections.

The first-day of getting them put in after 3 hours at the salon, see how UNuniform and loose they are? Notice some are less than 1/4 inch in size others are over 2 inches. . . There are some that are coming out in the pic (that SHE took.) Hell, they aren't even backcombed much, mostly twisted with wax on them. The dreads pull hair from all over, and are no where near square or even. You can see that even the section of hair pulled up is not straight.

After the 2nd day of putting them in, after hrs of work at the salon (one week later than the last appt.) this is what I got to go home looking like. Notice all the loose hairs. I was mortified to look like this, and did look like this for weeks.

And then a few weeks later, working on them for a few hours each day and blow-drying them in a shower cap (suggested b/c I didn't have 3 hr to sit under the dryer there every few days.) Notice all the loose hairs.

This is 7-8 Weeks afterwards, I haven't worked on them for 3 days b/c I knew I was taking them out this week. And I had not washed them for 5 days b/c I didn't want them to become any tighter since I needed to remove them.

They are weak, and breaking, and I cannot join them together due to the way she sectioned them out, or rather didn't section them.
